About UPEIDA

Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is a government-established infrastructure development authority formed on 27 December 2007 under the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Area Development Act, 1976. Operating under the Government of Uttar Pradesh, UPEIDA is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing major expressway projects and associated industrial infrastructure across the state. The authority focuses on improving regional connectivity, supporting economic development, and creating investment opportunities. Its major infrastructure projects include the Agra–Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Ganga Expressway, and Gorakhpur Link Expressway. These developments aim to improve transportation efficiency and strengthen connectivity between important cities, industrial centres, and emerging economic regions.

Beyond expressway development, UPEIDA plays an important role in industrial growth and defence manufacturing through the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC). The authority serves as the nodal agency for this initiative, which covers six major locations: Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot. The corridor aims to attract domestic and international investment, encourage aerospace and defence manufacturing, generate employment, and strengthen India's self-reliance in defence production. UPEIDA also facilitates industrial land allotment, infrastructure planning, and collaboration with public and private organisations to establish manufacturing facilities, research centres, and industrial ecosystems across Uttar Pradesh.

With a focus on modern infrastructure, industrial expansion, and sustainable regional economic growth, UPEIDA is also promoting 27 Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters (IMLCs) along major expressway corridors. These planned industrial developments are intended to support manufacturing units, logistics facilities, industrial parks, and related business activities through improved infrastructure and connectivity. By integrating expressway networks with industrial and defence corridors, UPEIDA aims to encourage investment, create employment opportunities, and support the development of emerging industrial destinations. Its long-term vision is to strengthen Uttar Pradesh's position as a major centre for infrastructure development, manufacturing, logistics, and industrial investment in India.
